Provides direct support services to blind or deaf-blind people to help them live as independently as possible
Description
Blind or visually impaired support services involve direct support to people who are blind, deaf-blind, or those with low vision. Program focuses on teaching Independent Living Skills (ILS) to people with a visual impairment.
Additional Information
National facility which provides evaluation, independent living skills and mobility training, short-term comprehensive vocational rehabilitation and assistance with jobs and residential placement for Americans who are deaf-blind.
Resources available for the deaf and blind include:
- Equipment distribution program
- Technical assistance
- Peer learning groups through Zoom
- Evaluation and training (one day or half day) at their headquarters with experts in assistive technology, vocational services, communication, orientation, mobility and independent living.
