Description

Women, Infants and Children (WIC) is a nutrition and breastfeeding program to help pregnant women, new mothers, infants and young children eat well, learn about nutrition, and stay healthy.

Eligibility

Minnesota WIC is for:

Pregnant women
Breastfeeding women who have had a baby within the past year
Women who have had a baby within the past 6 months
Women who have been pregnant within the past 6 months
Infants
Children up to age 5

Minnesota families must:

Live in Minnesota.
Meet WIC income guidelines
- Families are automatically income eligible if they are enrolled in another program such as Medical Assistance, Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT), Energy Assistance Program (EAP), Head Start, Medical Assistance TEFRA or Supplemental Security Income (SSI)

All children under 5 years old, so staff can measure their height, weight, and hemoglobin
Proof of identity for each woman and child

Food Shelf Food support is available to people in need
Mental Health Mobile Crisis Response Services Offers immediate emotional support by a trained counselor to help with problems such as depression, panic, anxiety, delusions, or other mood or behavior disorders. Available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and serves all ages.
Transportation Program that provides rides for people in the community
Tribal Health and Human Services Health and human services administered by tribal governments.
Weatherization Assistance Program Helps low-income homeowners and renters to reduce energy costs
