Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP)

Find a Provider - Parent Coach

Search for providers who provide family-based trauma support that focuses on both parent's and child's experience of the trauma at the same time.

Description

Offers an intervention model for children ages 0 - 5 years who have experienced a traumatic event and are experiencing mental health, attachment, or behavioral problems.

  • The type of trauma experienced, and the child's age or developmental stage determines the structure of the sessions.
  • Treatment involves weekly hour-long sessions and are generally conducted by a therapist. Parent and child are guided over the course of treatment to create a joint narrative of the traumatic event and to identify and address traumatic triggers that generate dysregulated behaviors and affects.
