Employment preparation and career training program that provides experience or vocational education for the work associated with a certain type of job

Additional Information

Provides work training programs *First weeks are trained to get the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and forklift operation certifications

Works mostly with African-American men living in chronic poverty with histories of incarceration, homelessness, unemployment, behavioral health issues and untreated physical health conditions.

Workers receive healthcare, workforce training, certificates, and coaching.

Eligibility

A participant must:

  • Reside in Hennepin or Ramsey counties
  • Not be charged with adult sex or arson crimes
  • Be 18 years old or older
  • Be incarcerated and about to be released and working with case worker
  • Be recently released (90 days or less) and on probation/parole for at least a year
  • Show a consistent willingness to change, either through victim impact group or other work
  • Demonstrate a commitment to supporting children and practicing positive parenting
