Transitional Housing - Young Mothers (Spirit Valley)

Time-limited housing and support services for individuals and/or families

Description

Provides housing and supportive services to individuals and families who are homeless or in need of safe housing.

Transitional housing helps people live independently, address issues that led to homelessness or kept them homeless, rebuild their support network and transition into permanent housing.

The length of time a person can use the program is limited.

Additional Information

The Spirit Valley Young Mother's Supportive Housing program offers supportive housing to young mothers (ages 16 - 21) and their infants.

Services include:

  • Help with access to medical care, education, employment and child care assistance when needed
  • Case management
  • Parenting classes
  • Money management
  • Self-esteem enhancement
  • Life skills
  • Homework assistance

Housing features include:

  • Seven efficiency apartments, each with a bathroom and kitchenette
  • Rent is based on income
  • Staff is present 24 hours a day
  • Smoke and alcohol-free

Eligibility

Residents must be 16 - 21 and in school or working to be in the program. All residents are required to enroll in a high school, a General Educational Development (GED) program, trade or vocational school or college. Tutoring assistance is available.

Fee

Rent is based on income. Section 8 vouchers will be used for those who qualify.
