Wright County Community Action Agency, LLC

Food Shelf

Food support is available to people in need

Description

Food is distributed to those who need it. The emergency food is typically made available through donations.

Additional Information

A client choice food shelf that offers a variety of nutritious foods for families in need.

In addition to addressing the immediate emergency need for food, Wright County Community Action (WCCA) assists residents to access other more long-term services that will help to assure the family has adequate resources in the future to provide for nutrition and other basic needs.

The Emergency Food Box Network distributes 30-pound emergency food boxes to network partners throughout the county to shorten the distance between people in need and food shelf resources. In an emergency, individuals-in-need can visit any of the partner locations and receive meal supplies through trusted community organizations.

The Mobile Food Shelf works with a limited number of senior living communities to deliver Food Shelf resources directly to clients' doorsteps. Clients complete a menu with support from a volunteer Enrollment Specialist. Groups of volunteers at the Wright County Food Shelf in Waverly will pack and deliver the orders.

With a focus on the aging population within Wright County, the Mobile Food Shelf is currently serving residents at the following locations:
