Legal help for low-income individuals

Description

Legal aid program that offers legal counseling and/or representation for low-income individuals, typically in the areas of disability law, elder law and family law

Free or low cost legal services help people who are unable to afford a lawyer get access to the court system.

Additional Information

Provides legal clinics in the following non-criminal areas:

  • Divorce
  • Family Law cases
  • Tax consultation
  • Housing, employment, bankruptcy
  • Controversy cases with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS)
  • Insurance
  • 3rd party custody cases
  • Immigration - James H. Binger Center for New Americans
    • Legal services for noncitizens, including representation and education about legal rights

Representation is provided by law students under the supervision of a licensed attorney.

Some cases may be referred to other non-profit partners.
