Food Distribution - Backpack Buddies

Boxes or bags of food that are provided for free or at a very low cost, often on designated days or times

Description

Food support is provided through free or low cost food that is distributed in boxes or bags to eligible people. This emergency food is typically offered on a specific date or a specific time.

Additional Information

Works with Bemidji area schools to offer the Backpack Buddies program which helps ensure that children in the Bemidji school district have access to nutritious, non-perishable and easy-to-prepare food at times when other resources are not available, such as weekends and school vacations

The program provides backpacks filled with food that is child friendly, nonperishable and easily consumed free of charge.

The food packs are discretely distributed to children, as best determined by the school, on the last day before weekends and all scheduled school breaks/holiday breaks.

Eligibility

All Bemidji area schools including Independent School District (ISD) 31 and charter schools. Blackduck, Kelliher, and Clearbrook-Gonvick schools are also included
