Non-governmental energy assistance program that helps pay for home utilities, such as natural gas, oil, propane or electricity
Additional Information
The HeatShare program provides emergency utility assistance once a shut-off notice has been received.
The Gas Affordability Program (GAP) provides qualifying customers of Minnesota utility companies with gas bill assistance.
These programs are used by:
- Low-income seniors
- Disabled people unable to maintain a steady income
- Anybody experiencing an unexpected financial emergency

Eligibility
Low-income residents of Douglas, Grant, Otter Tail, Pope and Stevens Counties; to qualify, applicants must have:
- Received a final shut off notice
- Exhausted all other energy assistance funds
- Had a critical event (crisis or emergency) that has prevented them from paying the bill
