Kinship Navigator
Connects kinship caregivers who care for children of a relative or close family friend with supportive services and resources.
Description
The Kinship Navigator Program assists families caring for children who are not their own, like grandparents, aunts, uncles, and close family friends, to help these individuals and families succeed.
Navigators help families connect to local supports and services, including:
- Getting assistance with everyday needs like housing, child care, food, health and transportation
- Maintaining financial stability
- Discovering emotional and community support networks

Offers support for kinship caregivers including:
- Statewide Kinship Warmline for kinship caregivers at warmline@lssmn.org or (877) 917-4640 (phone interpretation services available)
- Caregiver resources for financial, social security, medical assistance, legal and other options
- Monthly live webinars and other online learning opportunities on kinship resources, custody, foster care and more
- A monthly Kinship Care Newsletter
Also offers virtual and in-person support groups:
- Parenting Across Generations virtual support group, 9:30am -10:45am, 1st and 3rd Fridays of each month
- Kinship Support and Education Group in-person support group, 10:00am -11:45am, 1st Saturday of each month in Robbinsdale at Peace Lutheran church

Eligibility
Provides emotional support, information, and guidance to kinship caregivers of children aged 0-18 years. Support groups are also open to kinship caregivers of adults with mental health conditions and other disabilities.
