Description
A birthing hospital is a medical facility with many licensed healthcare providers, equipment, and interventions available to support pregnant individuals and their babies during their labor and delivery.
These facilities provide specialty services for high risk and/or emergency situations, such as cesarean sections and Special Care Nurseries/Neonatal Intensive Care Units for newborns that need additional medical support.
Many birthing hospitals also offer an array of prenatal classes, lactation support, and postpartum care.
