Community and Family Resource Center
Staff within this organization are available to help pregnant and parenting families connect with supportive services in their local community.
Description
Staff help families learn about the wide variety of services and supports that may be helpful, make referrals on behalf of families when needed, and check-in with families until navigation services are no longer needed.
Resource centers may have staff that speak a variety of languages, that live in the local community, and represent similar cultural, racial and ethnic backgrounds of the families they serve.
Many agencies also offer some or all the direct services listed below. The types of direct services will vary by location. Navigators help families connect to local supports and services, including:
- Food, housing and financial assistance
- Pregnancy support services and parenting education
- Programs and resources to support children's healthy development and what to do if there are concerns
- Early help for behavior concerns, crisis services for children and families
- Child care, preschool and early childhood family education
- Dental and medical care
- Disability services
- Legal services
Additional Information
Scott County Family Resource Centers connect area families with different services and assistance as well as other parents for support. Centers provide information on community resources, referrals to services, or assistance with the completion of applications and other paperwork.
Provides language assistance and culturally specific support for Latino and Somali families.
