Offers cash or other short term aid to people in a crisis that is affecting their access to basic needs

Emergency assistance can vary based upon eligibility and available funds.

Additional Information

The St. Vincent de Paul Outreach Ministry for Minneapolis residents include:

  • Identification fee vouchers
    • State ID or driver's license fee
    • Birth certificate fee from any state
  • Bus cards for verifiable new jobs
  • Thrift store vouchers for clothing and/or housewares
  • Laundry vouchers
  • Gas cards for licensed drivers
  • Hygiene items

The Basilica also provides an emergency rent assistance program with Align Minneapolis.

Eligibility

To qualify for rent assistance, you must:

  • Live in the city limits of Minneapolis
  • Not owe back rent more than two months
  • Not owe over $2,000
  • Not need the help for 1st month rent and/or deposit
  • Not be in a court-ordered eviction process or court-ordered payment plan
  • Have been denied for assistance from Hennepin County

Application Instructions

Outreach services available Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:30am - 11:30am in the lower level of The Basilica (first come, first served).

Rental assistance program applications are available 9:30am - 11:00am, Mondays, in the lower level of The Basilica. First come, first served basis.
