Early childhood navigators help families and those with young children find and connect with local early childhood and family well-being services.
Description
Early Childhood Navigators help families connect with the wide variety of services and supports listed below, make referrals on behalf of families when needed, and check-in periodically with families until navigation services are no longer needed. Many navigation agencies also offer some or all of the direct services listed below. Type of direct services will vary by location.
Navigators help families connect to local supports and services, including:
- Pregnancy support services
- Basic needs and economic assistance
- Disability services
- Healthy development and screening
- Developmental and behavioral concerns
- Family well-being and mental health
- Early learning and child care, including preschool and early childhood family education
- Dental care
- Legal services
By connecting families to local supports and services, these agencies help families:
- Make it easier to get what they need
- Increase access to services
- Improve children's readiness for kindergarten
- Grow community engagement and social connectedness, and support community developed solutions
