Child and Teen Checkups

Well-child care and screenings for eligible newborns, children and young adults


Preventive care keeps kids healthy! Medical clinics and some public health agencies provide comprehensive well-child exams that include age-appropriate preventive, dental, mental health, and developmental screenings. Any treatment needs that are determined by the well-child exam are also covered.

They will help to connect you with a clinic that provides specialized health checks:

  • A complete physical exam
  • Hearing and vision checks
  • Needed lab tests and immunizations
  • Checks on development and growth
  • Referral to a dentist
  • Information about good physical and mental health, behavior and development

You can use this health check for to meet requirements for Head Start, Women, Infants and Children (WIC), school, sports or day care.


Newborns, children and adolescents through the age of 20 who are eligible for Medicaid

These specialized health checks are available at no cost to children and teens who receive health care benefits through Medical Assistance and MinnesotaCare.
